All your suggestions threaten to ruin the device-independence of postscript. Can you think of another thing that became a great success by being device independent? I knew you could. Yes, it's UNIX. Would you care to argue further? Realize that UNIX has wiped out ALL OTHER multitasking minicomputer operating systems because of its device independence. It was a long time before people admitted that UNIX could be as efficient as a device-dependent assembly-language operating system. Adobe is fighting the same uphill battle with printers right now. You're not helping any, either.
