I bought version 4 in September ($79 from Mac Zone), and Great Wave sent me version 5 for free early this month. I use it primarily as a sequencer, not really for printing. It's not a "real" sequencer, but it didn't cost $400 either. I haven't yet spent a lot of time with the new version, but it's obvious at a glance that it is vastly superior to version 4. I may be way off base, but I think that they should have nuked their silly Music Player program (with the little conductor and the instrument icons) and enhanced the playback capabilities of the main program (MIDI Writer). They are probably not aiming at the sequencer market, but I think they are very close to having a really great, user-friendly, low cost, combination sequencer and notation program. I'll be delving deeper into the program this month, so I'll probably have a better understanding of the new features. I appreciate Allyn's comments, and I'd like to keep in touch with other CW users. I wonder if Great Wave has a BBS? I'll find out and let y'all know. Mark Turner mark@hpcilzb.HP.COM
