SunOS doesn't have patch. The only system I have access to that does is an HP/UX system and it would be a &@^#* pain to have to get the 1.5 postings + Minix (*) 1.3 there, uudecode, uncompress, unshar the postings, apply the diffs, recompress, tar, uuencode, ftp the tar files to a VAX/VMS machine, nft to an AT, drive for an hour, upload to an AT, ftp again to a Sun, uudecode, untar, uncompress, ftp back to the AT... (I'm exhausted just from mentioning it...) (2) I vaguely heard that Minix (*) 1.3 has got networking support (amoeba?) Does it support TCP/IP? (If yes has somebody written ftp, rcp, rlogin,...?) Does it support NFS? What Ethernet cards have got drivers written for them? (mine is a WD8003E and I remember somebody asking about it in connection with amoeba...) (*) looks like MINIX is NOT a registered trade mark of American Telegraph and Telephone, and good think it isn't. I tried to get MACH for my Sun 3. MACH is free. Only to get MACH you've got to get a BSD license and to get a BSD license you've got to have a Unix source license and AT&T will not sell you a 32V license, no sir, you've got to buy System V Release 3 and that's $65000... Sigh. Hope Berkeley is not working on a virtual memory Minix. We might end up having to pay $65000 to Prentice-Hall to get Minix in a couple of years. baltuch@brandeis.bitnet
