I managed to extract the 1.5 postings undamaged, and they don't appear
truncated (unshar of postings 14-38 took 6 hrs. on a 10MH XT - why is shar so
slow?).  Crc is also v. slow, so I've not crc'd everything, but the stuff I
checked was perfect.

The first job was to patch everthing, and that went fast - more.c and ls.c run
out of space (*not* disc space, I mounted a scratch 1MB partition on /tmp) so
I left them.  There is a problem patching fs/glo.h, which seems to be already
patched.

Problems with files:
  Does lib.doc exist?  It's mentioned in the 1.4 crcs.
  What is posix.cdif, in the 1.5 posix distribution?
  What are files type ".x", such as those found in the kernel distribution?

The first thing I tried was to put together libc.a.  I assumed all the files
in lib/other were replacements for the current libc.a contents, and that posix
and ansi were separate libraries.  Recompiling on this basis (obviously, with
the 1.5 h files) gave me errors in 20 files:

I've not tried the kernel and the commands yet.

Some of the above problems seem to be due to a mix of posix headers and
non-posix library code.  Should the posix code simply be fed into the library
- if so, why were the other files distributed?  I'm probably missing something
important here.

Anyway, good luck, and thanks to those who sorted out the test/binary
confusion.  (And thanks to ast for the Christmas present - my wife was
delighted... ).
