Go right ahead and read the wbak-written backup set on your other machine. The
tape 'file' is standard ANSI labeled, and the block size is 8K (8192) bytes.
Be certain to read the blocks in binary mode (as opposed to ASCII or EBCDIC)
so as to prevent data conversion.

My understanding is that they do, and are compatible with those for the
DN-2500.
