Recently I purchased an AE GS-RAM from a friend that wanted to upgrade his system. With it came a disk for updating Appleworks to use the expanded memory. Also included on this disk were two programs called AECACHE.SYSTEM and AECACHE.SETUP, the latter being an init. My problem is I copy the init file to */System/System.Setup and reboot and my machine crashes. This init (AECACHE.SETUP) is supposed to install a disk caching CDA that will cache my 3.5" disk drive. Instead it dies. If I launch the AECACHE.SYSTEM (a P8 system file) the CDA installs and everything works fine. I am running on a ROM 1 Apple IIgs with 1.75 megabytes on ram. I am using System Disk 5.0.2 (hurray Apple!) with a TWGS, a Sonic Blaster, and a CMS SCSI card. I have removed all my other inits to see if there's a conflict but still get the same crash. Any suggestions? | UUCP: [ucsd, nosc] !crash!pro-europa!paul | "All that is necessary for the | | INET: paul@pro-europa.cts.com | triumph of evil, is for good | | ARPA: crash!pro-europa!paul@nosc.mil | men to do nothing." |
