Dyer Computer Consulting, Cambridge MA Lines: 20 I can't believe I'm asking this, but my sysmgr days are far behind me. What are the appropriate values for density and tape length when invoking dump(8) using TK50's as the backup medium? Also, should I just use dump's default write size, or, instead, write to stdout piped into dd, and write to tape with a specified block size? I actually have to do this on both an Ultrix 3.0 and a 4.3BSD system, both MicroVAX II's, so info on only one or the other (say, as regards blocking factors), is fine. I have to do these backups tonight (Tue, 1/2), so don't delay! :-) Thanks. -- Steve Dyer dyer@ursa-major.spdcc.com aka {ima,harvard,rayssd,linus,m2c}!spdcc!dyer dyer@arktouros.mit.edu, dyer@hstbme.mit.edu
