Due to its compact size, the hard disk is combined with the controller as one unit, ie, the HD is placed vertically. It is a 30M (936 cyl 17 sec 4 head) Miniscribe HD. Recently, it starts giving seek errors. When running PC Tools to give the map, it stucks. When trying to reformat the entire HD, I found that most cylinders can't be write/read. Does anyone has similar problems with this type of HD before? It's the first time I've seen such a HD so is it really that unreliable? |~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~|~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| | Kevin WONG | ACSnet : kklw@mullian.ee.mu.OZ | | Department of Elec Engineering | internet : kklw@mullian.ee.mu.OZ.AU | | University of Melbourne | uunet : uunet!munnari!mullian!kklw |
