On power up the screen is filled with 80 vertical thin lines, each of which passes throughthe centre of any letter/number typed onthe screen. When I load any of my applications software such as Excel/Word the screen clears and acts normally. Some applications software, for example PCTOOLS which uses just the test mode also shows the #@!!& s. My guess is that I have a faulty chip on the video board: My questions are: (1) Does this diagnosis sound right? (2) How can I tell which chip is damaged? (3) Is it worth the effort to fix? Thanks for any help. Colin Higgs International Institute for Sport and Human Performance Eugene Oregon
