Keywords: Code generator hype Message-ID: <759@geovision.UUCP> Date: 28 Dec 89 15:30:11 GMT Reply-To: pt@geovision.UUCP (Paul Tomblin) Organization: GeoVision Corp, Ottawa, Canada Lines: 24 In response to a previous request for information about replacing Clipper with C, Stephen M. Dunn recommended I try Pro-C, a code generator made by Vestronix, in Waterloo. I called them, and got a spiel with a lot of hype, a lot of hard sell, and some (very little) decent factual information. Since the only demo I can get from them cost $50 (They send the product, and if I don't like it in 30 days I can return it but still pay S&H), I would like to hear from anybody who has used it, or another product I just say advertised called Code Base IV. Please tell me: o Did it work well? o Did you do much hand tweaking of the code? o What type of project was it? o How large was the project? o Were you an experienced C programmer when you started? o Were you an experienced dBase/Clipper programme when you started? o What did you like about it? o What did you hate about it? o Did you ask for and recieve technical help or upgrades from them? Thanks. -- Paul Tomblin nrcaer!cognos!geovision!pt (Coming soon: uunet!geovision!pt) Life: Loath it or ignore it, you can't like it.
