If you mean with the activity light on the 'top' surface, cables emerging from
the underside, then you have violated the drive's specs. It MUST be mounted
on its longest edge, either on side, or on its belly (but NOT on its back!).
Put another way, the mounting holes provided are for fixig to the FLOOR of
the case. I've not yet seen one which permits any other orientation, no doubt
they have their reasons...
I've posted this rather than e-mailing you as a warning to anyone else
who has done this. Drive manufacturers are quite specific about this, some
even include drawings in the manual, none that I have read mention why.
If you HAVE mounted it wrongly, you can try it in one of the 3 correct
orientations. If it works OK, good, but don't expect that will live out
it's full life expectancy, and be prepared to replace it soon, possibly
after a total failure. In other words, back it up quick!
