They didn't think that it would be a problem getting the Moscone Center in January and didn't bother reserving it in time, and the boat show took the only slot available. As someone who'e been to several expos as an exhibitor, and experienced this "management" style first-hand, I'm not the least bit surprised that they screwed up the scheduling.
