I've never had any problems UPSing in the states, but have had numerous problems to my parents in Canada: - it is considerably slower than surface mail - it is much more likely to get caught in customs (does Canadian customs harass UPS?) Note that these are just my observations from my experience. I continue to use UPS for packages in the states, but good old surface mail to Canada.
