Lisle, IL Lines: 22 I recently spent some time talking with LaCie's technical support people about several questions that I had, one of them regarding the fact that thier Partioning password mechanism (in silverlining) could be bypassed by some SCSI mounting utilities (there was a posting on this a little ways back). Mr. Lewis Macken of LaCie's Tech support staff asked me to pass along the information to the network that this problem has been known for a while and has purportedly been fixed in release 5.2 of silverlining. I am to understand that if you have earlier 5.X releases you can get an update for something like $5 and sending in the original disk. Earlier releases are a little more expensive for the upgrade ( I think it was something like $39 from LaCie). LaCie's number is 1-800-999-0143 and you can get both sales and tech support from the same number. My only relation with LaCie is that I own a 40M external drive that I bought from them and I like it so much and the service that I've received that any other hard disks I purchase will likely be from them.
