(and I don't even have access to SUMEX) I don't think we are sure that people would complain, so far there has not been a single person supporting the posting of demo programs in comp.mac.binaries. However, there hasn't been a lot of people complaining either. Personally I would like to see this practice stopped, at least give priority to non-demo programs if this hasn't been past practice.
