Upon start-up, or any other read/write operation of the floppy drive, when the operation is over a quiet hissing sound is heard before total quiet. This seems to be distinct from the "chatter" of the heads. I suspect it is the disk continuing to spin down for a second before coming to a stop. In the SEs that I have listened to this short "hissing" after the heads stop "chattering" is not present. The question is: Is this normal for the Mac Plus? Is it due to different software/hardware between the two machines? Any help will be appreciated. David Baird University of Chicago
