Message-ID: <1101@shelby.Stanford.EDU> Date: 2 Jan 90 16:25:53 GMT Sender: daemon@shelby.Stanford.EDU Lines: 16 I ran across an add for Cincinnati Microwave's ESCORT automotive radar detector and was ammused to learn that: The heart of ESCORT's DSP circuitry is this 20 MHz 24 bit HCMOS processor, a custom version of the Motorola DSP 56000. Does this mean that when/if a NeXT portable becomes available we'll be able to run a software radar detector on the DSP? (Just like we were supposed to be able to run a software modem on it. ;-) Actually, it would be interesting to know if there are commercial applications of Motorola's 56000 that would be practical to imagine porting to (and expanding upon) the NeXT -- anyone know of any? - Christopher -------
