There is a problem that is NOT in the "special" release that is greatly annoying the users of the system. The arrow keys (r10, r8 ,r12, r14) no longer function in "xterm" windows. This means no arrow keys for Emacs but more importantly we have a group that makes extensive use of Matlab, whose line editing uses these keys. This may seem like a little problem but these people are very annoyed. How can I fix this? Did I not do something in the installation? Does the termcap need updating? Is this another of Sun's xnews "features" (like slowness, hogging memory, etc.). Frustrated.
