Hi All,

Well, I finally got around to doing something with NEWS V5.9C.  I am going to
post SUM/SLP command files that will update the base V5.9 source to V5.9C, and
I will make the executables (compiled for Wollongong) and object available for
anonymous ftp at kuhub.cc.ukans.edu. The base source for V5.9 has been
available from kuhub for some time now.  I will also be removing the V5.9A
stuff that is out there now.

Following this article, I will post the SUM/SLP patches for V5.9C in three
parts.  To use these patches, create a directory structure like:


                             [NEWSMGR]
                                 |
[NEWS_V59_SRC]------[NEWS_SRC]---+---[NEWS_BUILD]------[NEWS_V59_UPDATE]

Put the BASE source for V5.9 in NEWS_V59_SRC. Extract the 3 parts of the
VMS_SHARE file containing the V5.9C SUM/SLP patches, and put the result in
the NEWS_V59_UPDATE directory.  After you unpack the V5.9C patches, you
should have several .COM file, one for each source file in NEWS_V59_SRC.
If you have any local modifications for NEWS, make SUM/SLP patches for
your changes, and merge them into the appropriate update file.  Then execute
the .COM files to update the base source to V5.9C.  Then recompile NEWS,
using the NEWSBUILD.COM procedure in NEWS_SRC.
