Well I don't know of any program that will transfer from PICT to IFF format directly, but I get pretty good results using GIF as an intermediate step: On the Macintosh, your son needs to get a program called Giffer (I believe 1.03 is the most current version). It is public domain and it will allow him to load a PICT file, then save it in GIF format. Then on the Amiga you need either HAMGIF or GIFFY (there may be others available now too). HAMGIF will convert a GIF file to Amiga HAM pic and is the best one if the Mac picture used more than 32 colors. GIFFY will convert a GIF pic to ILBM format with 32 colors or less. I have used both these programs (both are PD) with pretty good success. (Actually looking over my posting I just realized you will also need a screen saver of some sort on the Amiga if you want to save the pics in HAM or ILBM format, all these programs do is display the GIF pic on the Amiga's screen. I use ScreenX by Steve Tibbett to capture the screen when I need to save the pic, it is also PD). Someone else mentioned MacView, and although it is a nice program, it will only convert MacPaint files to Amiga 2 color IFF files. Of course MacPaint format files can be be as large as 8 1/2" x 11" when printed, and MacView will only allow saving of part of the MacPaint image at a time (up to 640x400). You can't save the entire MacPaint pic to a Dpaint pic for instance even though DPaint will now handle bitmaps even larger than MacPaint. I use a Mac at work and an Amiga at home so if you have any more questions maybe I can help. Marvin Landis mcsmal@nmsuvm1
