When moving a fixed length file, with lrecl 133, with more than 1334 records, FAL inserts two random characters at the end of the 1335th record. This causes havoc with data files and disturbs the display of files on the receiving machine since the characters inserted are often a carriage-return/line-feed. It does not appear to matter what type of machine is receiving the file. We have tested two VAX/VMS systems running different TCP/IP packages and a Sun system. They all failed the same way. This problem does not occur with fixed length, lrecl 132 files or fixed length, lrecl 134 files or fixed length, lrecl 80 files or variable length, lrecl 133 files or fixed length, lrecl 133 files of less than 1335 records. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Any ideas on the cause and/or solution? Thanks Marla Meehl
