I am looking for references about mutual illumination.

I know that ray tracing methods help for rendering in computer graphics.
I am trying to analyze the effects of mutual illuminations to formulate
shading model in the aspects of computer vision.

References about ray tracing or mutual illuminations will be welcomed.
