Hello, all.   This is my first visit, preparing for a guest
 appearance next week.  
 Just so everyone knows, the price of BASIS is now $10.  This
 is due to rising costs, as the document itself is getting fat
 and expensive to reproduce.  But it has some good stuff in it, 
 particularly a "portability guide" by John Hayes.
 A 20-pg set of highlights will be posted shortly, probably tomorrow
 , in preparation for a discussion 1/18.  Hope you will all be there.
  By the way, since I'm using FIG's number for practice, I should
 identify myself:  Elizabeth Rather, chair X3J14, FORTH, Inc.
