Create a file with touch, then vi it. Now press Ctrl-F9, because you have to in order to get your machine back. (If you have more than one terminal you may be able to get on and kill yourself from there, but I don't, so I dunno.) Also, the %-meter that tells you how far down the file you are says (on my machine anyway) something like 32867726% all the time (no matter where you are in the file). (Not on a 0-length file, I mean on any file).
