This workshop will bring together researchers and developers interested in the various problems raised by the management of replicated data in dis- tributed systems. Possible topic areas to be addressed include: * Experiences with fault-tolerant management of replicated data * Recent advances in replication control protocols * Efficient recovery strategies * Identifying significant levels of partial consistency * Estimating the overall reliability of distributed systems that depend on replicated data, * Commercial application of replicated data and services * Current technologies (how they work, what they are suitable for) To maintain a true workshop setting, attendance will be lim- ited to sixty active workers in the field. Potential atten- dees should mail eight copies of a two to four page position paper to J.-F. Paris, the program committee chair, by April 15, 1990. This position paper should describe the current involvement of its author(s) with replicated data management and mention possible insights and lessons gained from recent research and practical experience. The workshop will be preceded on November 7 by a one-day tutorial on Fault-Tolerant Computing Techniques by Kenneth Birman from Cornell University.
