Afterall, we could be using the Jewish, Chinese or Moslem calendars instead of the Gregorian calender. If english speaking journalism (from Time mag to Tom Brokaw) are the benchmarks (Heaven forbid!), then indeed we are in the new decade. If you talk to Arthur C.
