Ms. It's too late to change that. And it would be a shame to
throw all those programs out the window just because they didn't write them
according to the 'rules'.

How about a patch to the boot routines, that if there is a kickstart disk in
the drive on boot up, then disable the ROMs and load the kickstart into RAM
and somehow map that RAM to be in the ROM address space?

You would lose some memory, but with 1M of chip ram allowed with the new
Agnus, you should still be able to have a fully functional 512K chip RAM amiga.
