Lines: 15 The DR-11W protocol is an 'industry-standard' means for bidirectional 16 bit data transfer between two electronic systems (not necessarily computers). It has NO data-related protocols, just a couple of handshake lines to indicate data availability and direction. If you were to think of the absolute minimum number of signals required for such a mechanism, you would end up with the same number of control lines as the DR-11W (six, if I remember correctly). Best of all, you don't have to use them all if you aree unidirectional.
