To start off with, the ST-506 is a 5 meg drive, not 10. Second, my memory is a little hazy, but I don't believe Rainbow MS-DOS 2.01 included a FORMAT program. In any case, you should try to get a copy of DOS 2.11 or above. Whether you format with CP/M or DOS depends on the OS under which you want to run your programs. Some users format part of the disk with DOS and the rest with CP/M. --- msged 1.99L MSC * Origin: Silver Bullet - Silver Spring, Maryland - 301-622-2247 (1:109/123) ------------------------------ Date: 01-07-90 To: ED RIDPATH Subject: ASCII CHARACTERS From: FRANK MALLORY ER> But how can I get that wonderful smily face? That's easy: send $25 to Suitable Solutions for the IBM character ROM chip. Plug it in and try all combinations of 2 and 3-character Compose sequences. You'll find it there somewhere, together with a lot of other real keen stuff. --- msged 1.99L MSC * Origin: Silver Bullet - Silver Spring, Maryland - 301-622-2247 (1:109/123) ------------------------------ Date: 01-07-90 (21:27) To: FRANK MALLORY Subject: ASCII CHARACTERS From: RICK MELLON FM> The Compose Sequences are shown in Appendix E of the Rainbow FM> Owner's Manual. Appendix F shows all the character codes. Looks like I have a little problem. Although I've upgraded from a 100A to a 100B, I still only have the 100A manuals. As you'd expect, these Appendices are not in the 100A Owner's Manual. I have seen a Compose Sequence file, but it seems that there were only 40 or 50 characters listed, and smily faces and vertical lines were not among them (to name a few). Does Appendix E show 128 Compose Sequences? BTW, what's the difference between Appendix E (Compose Sequences) and Appendix F (character codes)? Questions, questions, questions, .
