Lines: 14 A poster from Fido-land asked about running something called TELIX on a Rainbow, given that the comm port seemed to be at a different address than that on an IBM PC. Forget it. The Rainbow comm port is completely incompatible with that on an IBM PC -- it's not just the same thing at a different address. It's based on an NEC 1701, which is actually a fairly nifty chip that does, not only asynchronous I/O, but also synchronous I/O, and supports bisync, SDLC, and HDLC protocols on chip. It has four comm ports -- two for each channel -- starting at port address 40H. -- Larry Campbell The Boston Software Works, Inc. campbell@redsox.bsw.com 120 Fulton Street wjh12!redsox!campbell Boston, MA 02109
