In reference to the question about the Compaq 20e, if the machine passes
full diags, I would try backing up your hard drive, low level
formatting it, and intstalling again.  If that does not work, contact
your dealer.

CHKDSK /F converts lost clusters to files and stores them in the root
directory in FILExxxx.CHK.  You can save/delete these as desired.
