I am concerned that if comp.sys.ibm.pc is split up too much
many of the discussions and topics will generate multiple
cross-postings, especially for followups and answers to queries.
This could make it hard to follow lines of discussion.

Perhaps the volume of traffic in comp.sys.ibm.pc warrants a split.
However, I hope the net gurus will not try to break it up into
more than 2 or 3 (at most) separate groups.
