MSC 5.1 will not generate 386 instructions under any circumstances, not automatically, not today, not tomorrow, not next year, not ever. MASM 5.1 will generate some of the 386 instructions, but not all. You have to get somebodies (Phar Lap is an example) 386 compiler and DOS extender.
