A few applications (Quickfile and Remember d.a.) that used to
display text in Geneva now display their text in Chicago -- however
the Geneva font is still in the System and I have no trouble using
it from wordprocessors and applications.

I suspect that something stomped on applFont, though I don't recall
doing anything that would make this happen.

Any suggestions?  (Mac SE, 4 Mb memory, system 6.0.4).
