Her son has done likewise. He studied in a Montessori classroom. I wonder. Young children tend to be kinesthetic. Do you suppose that teaching braille alongside print would help them learn faster? I know that in Montessori, they encourage kids to feel the shapes of letters, and they say it helps them learn faster. Most Montessori-educated kids read by the time they are 4 1/2 or 5, while most others do not appear to be ready to learn to read until 6 to 8 years of age. You may be on to something there.
