I tried to upgrade from 5.7 to 5.9c today (VMS 5.1-1). The poor computer spent
several hours converting the index files to 5.8 format. After  this, NEWS can't
find anything in most groups any longer! The "Count" and  "Unread" numbers are,
oddly enough, ok, i.e. unchanged,  but the groups are empty (with a  few
exceptions). Why? (I believe I have sufficient disk quota/space, accurate
privilegies and so on.)

I'd appreciate any hints. Thanks.
