It is a good tonic to run this regularly:
find SPOOLDIR -size 0 -o -mtime +90 -exec rm -f {} ;
/usr/lib/news/expire -r

This will remove old junk leftover in the spool directory and
then rebuild your history file. First delete the history file
of course.
