The "closed" or "buzzed" roll differs greatly from an "open" or "rudimentary" roll. A good open roll will sound like someone doing sixteenth notes really-really fast. The closed roll will sound much like a humming bee in that it will "buzz." Curious as to how many drummers are on this list. Is there a drummer/perc. listserv around someplace? Or do we have to make-do with ALLMUSIC ? :) Grutz...drummin for 9 years, and still goin...wheeee!!!
