     On 31 January 1990 and again on 1 February 1990, GWUVM experienced
a link failure that affected eight BITNET links; PSUBIT, UMDD, SAKACS00,
AGU, BITNIC, GALLAU, CUAVAXA, and DOEVM.

     Both these failures were traced to the same cause, a conditioned
power supply within the local telephone Company's, C & P Telephone Co,
local equipment. In the first failure, C&P replaced a blown fuse and in
the second failure C&P replaced the entire power supply. We hope that
this has "cured" the problem.

     We regret any inconvenience that this outage may have caused.
