It also seems to me to be a more logical situation for the general user, increasing the resemblance to mail on paper, where the envelop and the contents of the letter are 2 completely separate entities (at least until the creation of envelops with transparent windows...). And maybe use the IDLINE for a short reminder to the user? Something like: "Mail to: Richard Schafer, Nick Gimbrone and MAIL/MAILBOOK" A maybe not completely unlogical continuation of Nick's idea would be to implement same for READ mode? And again using the IDLINE to display: "New mail from: ....." or "New mail sender: ......" or "Notebook MAILBOOK, item from/sender: ......" With the "Subject: ...." line as optional RESERVED line right under the IDLINE, and the CMDLINE at the bottom of the screen? Regards. Scott/
