Standard typewriter characters come in either pica or elite.
Pica characters are 10 to the horizontal inch and elite characters
are 12 to the horizontal inch.  As you space down the page, the
standard spacing is 6 lines to the inch, or a linespacing of 1/6 of
an inch.  Is this the info you were looking for?
