	Social Services Minister John Oldring says he's thinking about
pushing up the shelter allowance for people on social assistance.  Low
vacancy rates in Calgary and Edmonton have forced prices up... and
Oldring says that makes it tough on people with low fixed income.

	Alberta's new Ombudsman is promising to take a low-key approach to
dealing with public complaints.  Harley Johnson... a 25-year veteran of
the Calgary police force... was sworn-in at Ombudsman yesterday.

	Two Calgary companies are co-operating on the proposed
Alberta-California Pipeline Expansion Project.  Alberta Natural Gas and
Foothills Pipe Lines will help develop the western ``pre-build'' section
of the system that'll deliver more Canadian gas to California.

	Police in Calgary are still searching for a man after a bizarre
holdup in a Canada Trust on Wednesday.  A man walked into the bank...
said he had a gun... and demanded a loonie.  The teller gave him a
one-dollar coin, and then the man left.
