Note: French:0509pes (TORONTO) Ontario's Conservative leader says a legislative committee should tour the province to deal with misunderstandings over French-language services. Andy Brandt says Premier David Peterson shouldn't be casting blame in the French language dispute, but instead should deal with the underlying problem. The Tory leader says some people don't really understand Bill 8, which guarantees French language provincial government services in designated areas. Brandt says an all-party committee should be going into communities such as Sault Ste. Marie. He says they need to sit down and discuss the regulations that apply to the bill and remove the fears that are there. Brandt says his party first recommended this idea two-and-a-half years ago in an effort to head off potential problems.
