Note: Bikes:450pes (TORONTO) A City of Toronto is proposing to crackdown on cyclists who don't obey the law...especially those who ride bikes for a living. The city is checking into the feasibility of forcing all bicycle couriers to have a licence. Councillor Tom Jakobek says downtown couriers are an ``absolute menace''. He says they weave in and out of traffic, cutting off vehicles and pedestrians. The councillor says it's time couriers were forced to obtain a licence...just like other drivers...to make it easier for police to apprehend them. The City Services Committee has also adopted a recommendation calling on police to put officers on bikes to enforce cycling laws. A police representaive welcomes the idea...as long as police are not referred to as cops on ``PIGcycles''.
