The date has not been set for the release, but will be facilitated by the immediate lifting of a 30-year ban on the African Nationalist Party. In a speech to open parliament, de Klerk expressed the need for his country to re-integrate with the rest of the world. He also announced the virtual end of the death penalty. -0- The speech by de Klerk covered a number of aspects in the governing of South Africa... political, social and economic. He said although conditions no longer require the prohibition of the A-N-C and other organizations, there would be no tolerance of terrorism. Brian Gallery stepped down after word came out he pressured C-N to put advertisements into two magazines he owns. -0- A 13-year-old Winnipeg boy has been sentenced to the maximum term after being convicted of a double-murder last summer. The boy's name cannot be publicized due to restrictions under the Young Offenders Act, the same piece of legislation that limits his imprisonment to just three-years. -0- In Pompano Beach, Florida, authorities say an elderly couple has been charged with arranging the contract killing of their only son in order to collect a 70-thousand-dollar insurance policy. -0- The Canadian Human Rights Commission is backing unions on the issue of pay equity. Chairman Max Yalden has slammed the federal government saying the commission was not consulted about pay adjustments for 70-thousand civil servants, most of them women. He told Ottawa to co-operate with the unions, who warn that Millions of women in Canada have been left unaccounted-for by the pay-equity program. -0- Federal Liberal party leadership hopeful Sheila Copps has once again upset her colleagues. Earlier this week, Copps called for full disclosure of campaign budgets. In the N-H-L, Shayne Corson and Stephane Richer (STEHF'-ahn REE-shay) scored 56-seconds apart in the closing minutes to lift Montreal to a 4-2 victory over the Boston Bruins. The rally came minutes after Boston had a goal disallowed. Other games had the Flyers beating Hartford 2-1, the Flames beat Vancouver 4-3 in overtime and Chicago beat the L-A Kings 7-4.
