CINCINNATI (UPI) -- Cincinnati Reds pitcher Tom Browning agreed to a one-year contract for an estimated $2 million Friday. The Reds said they are continuing to talk with Browning about the possibililty of agreeing on a multi-year contract. Before Friday's agreement, Browning had been scheduled for arbitration in which his salary this season would have been either his requested $2.5 million or the Reds' offered $1.75 million. Friday's agreement indicates a compromise was struck between the two figures. Browning was paid $1.025 million last season, when he was the club's winningest pitcher with a 15-12 record and a 3.39 earned run average.
