MIAMI (UPI) -- Kevin Edwards contributed a game-high 29 points Friday as the Miami Heat recorded its largest victory in the history of the franchise, trouncing the Los Angeles Clippers 126-91 before a sellout crowd of 15,008. The Heat (10-36), which opened the fourth quarter with an 18 point lead, was paced by Edwards and center Rony Seikaly, who had 24 points in the contest. A late 11-0 run put the game well out of reach. Miami played consistently, putting together a solid first and second half -- something that has eluded the team before. As a result, the Clippers never did better than an early tie. ``That's been our downfall, not coming out in the second half and playing as hard as we can,'' Edwards said. ``The other teams come out and turn it up a level, and we can't keep up, we're left behind. Tonight we came out and played a full 48 minutes.'' The Heat performed well in the third quarter, grabbing 16 rebounds to the Clipper's seven, contributing to a 62-37 advantage for the game. In the second quarter, the Heat took a three-point lead and quickly enlarged it. Grant Long exploded for eight of his 14 first-half points, and Miami entered the locker room with a 12-point advantage. Miami maintained a three-point advantage throughout the first quarter. The Clippers threatened early with the consistent play of guard Gary Grant, but Grant went down with a broken fibula at the point where it meets the ankle late in the first quarter. Grant, a starter, is expected to be out six to eight weeks.
