[the way it is now] Why not Option = Control on the Plus, and Command = Meta? I have my mac kermit bound this way, and it is quite nice. Those keys are much closer to where the control and meta keys are on my sun at work. Command as control is very awkward. I can't see a need to insert special mac option characters in a text editor. If I need to do that, I'll use a word processor. Well, most of the time, anyway. christopher> Preferably we would see some kind of config dialog box christopher> where one could check boxes for Control, Command, Shift, christopher> and Option for the Control, Meta, special-char and christopher> keyboard-command roles...so if I decided I wanted christopher> Control-Shift to be Meta, and Control to be special-char christopher> (well, maybe not, but you get the idea). Yes. Like in mac kermit. But with instructions, like "how to get Option-Cmd to act like Control-Meta." ( I managed to figure it out. ) Sorry if I'm missing anything-- I think I came in in the middle of this conversation. Chet. -- Chet Wood ~ (408)727-3357 arc!chet@apple.COM .
