  While we're talking about sorting, I have patched the version I run
(old, sorry) and all of it's predecessors to do a sort on title and
date. All it does is call the title compare, and if the result is zero
call the data compare. This allows reading multiple messages, such as
replies or discussion, in order, one topic at a time. I use this to do
the initial sort on the 386users mailing list digests.
