Peter,
   As the author of the PM based BBS, let me clarify a few things.. 
The node sessions run in either text windows or full screen 
sessions.  The component of the BBS that utilizes the PM is the 
sysop utility/control program.  This allows the SYSOP to take 
advantage of the convenience of PM.  In addition, it supplies the 
SYSOP with statistics on current system activity, animated graphs, 
etc.  Who said PM doesn't make sense?
